Hello
Tiffany, author of Succubus Lost, Book 2 of the Otherworlder Enforcement Agency
Series, a paranormal romance/urban fantasy. We’re here today to chat about
Tiffany’s series, but before we start here’s a little about Tiffany:
Tiffany
currently lives in Phoenix, AZ, by way of Chicago and Denver, and is happily
married to a secret romantic. She spends her days working in Corporate America
while daydreaming about sexy heroes, ass-kicking heroines, and interesting ways
to kill people (for her books, of course). Her nights are reserved for writing
and bothering her husband and cats (according to them). Her passions include
reading, chocolate, travel, wine, and family.
Okay…Tiffany,
let’s get to the questions:)
What’s Marisol's job?
What does she do for a living?
Marisol Whitman is a police detective with the
paranormal unit, or freak squad, of the Chicago Police Department.
Give
us some insight into Marisol. What’s a bit of her back story?
In addition to being a detective, Marisol is a
succubus who has been responsible for her younger sister, Elaine, since Elaine
was young. Elaine was attacked as a teenager and forced to use her succubus
powers to kill her attacker. For years after the attack, she was very fragile.
As her guardian, Marisol has had a lot of responsibility on her shoulders since
she was young.
Who
is Marisol to Agent Costa? Can you give us a bit about the first time they meet
each other?
Agent Costa helps Marisol to find her sister after
she disappears because he is investigating a series of succubus kidnappings
across the country. Here's a short excerpt of their first meeting. Marisol
is…less than impressed...
Costa
reached out and I met his hand with my own. He shook it, his fingers firm and
almost cold against mine. I frowned and examined him more closely.
“Vampire?”
The question was rude, but propriety was the least of my worries. I needed to
know who I was dealing with. He didn’t have the slight paleness that vampires
were known for, but then he may have fed recently. No fear emanated from him,
but that didn’t disqualify the vampire angle altogether, since some vampires
exuded more fear than others.
A
grimace touched Costa’s features, gone so quickly I wasn’t even certain I saw
it. “Salamander.”
“Ah.”
Salamanders were essentially a type of elemental. They could control fire and
were resistant to its effects. I didn’t know any personally, but they weren’t
the rarest of otherworlders, and most were only slightly more powerful than a
match.
Can
you tell us about Marisol's abilities? How do they help OR hinder?
Marisol's abilities are very helpful when it comes
to interrogation. She is a succubus and carries an aura of sexuality around her
that makes people a bit more responsive—men in particular. But it also makes
some men distrustful, including Agent Costa. Here's how he reacts to Marisol
using her influence to get information from a witness...
I gave the man a small wave as we exited the office and suppressed a smile as he stumbled over his words into the phone.
I put
my blazer back on when the cool fall air surrounded me, and I walked in front
of Costa to the sidewalk that led down into the library. As I approached the
door, he grabbed my arm, just under my shoulder, and pulled me to a stop. His
grip wasn’t rough, but it was firm.
“What?”
I asked, angling my shoulder away from him so he’d release me.
He let go, and his arm grazed my breast as his hand fell away. I took in a quick breath and glared at him.
“What the hell was that?” His voice was cold, but not void of emotion.
“Excuse
me?” My mouth dropped open and I snapped it shut, ignored the way my pulse
skipped faster under his gaze.
“Do
you really think flirting while on the job is appropriate?” Anger coated his
tone, giving it a hard edge. “I’d think you could feed your desires on your own
time.”
Heat
flared in my chest and rushed up to my face. “What the hell are you talking
about?”
“Come
on, any idiot could tell that you were coming on to that little weasel.”
“An
idiot might think that, yes,” I hissed. I spun around and marched through the
library doors.
Why
this location? Anything in particular in real-life that made you select it?
The From the Files of the Otherworlder Enforcement
Agency series is set in the Chicago area. I set it there because I lived in the
area for a few years, and it's such a perfect place to set an investigative
series. The number of potential settings there is fantastic, and the vibe of
the city is unique.
Can
you share anything about the otherworlders in
the story? What’s unique about them?
The otherworlders in my world are quite varied.
They include creatures like banshees, incubi, succubi, salamanders (the fire
kind, rather than the amphibian type), sirens, vampires and lycans. Among
others. They work and live alongside humans, which makes for some interesting
dynamics.
What are you working on
now?
Right now I'm working on a fun, lighthearted vampire romance.

throes of pleasure? When her partner is murdered after using witchcraft to
locate the killer and Mac is thrown off the case, her frustration turns to

Byrne, an investigative counterpart from the enigmatic Otherworlder Enforcement
Agency. Mac typically runs her investigations fast and hard, but with Aidan at
her side, she’s running this one “hot” as well. But Aidan knows more than he’s

Tiffany, welcome:) Come on in and make yourself at home - brought coffee and some tea selections - this morning it's TAZO chai and coconut milk (tastes like a tea latte - yummy.
You're getting all the sex-crazed paranormals to star in your stories, aren't you? *smile* I've added your series to my to read pile of books...looking forward to reading them.
Is there anything else you'd like to add about your series?
Thank you so much for having me! I'd love some tea. ;)
How about an Earl Grey Latte - yummy:)
I'd like to know where you pulled your research from regarding banshees and succubus:)
So, is the vampire book you're working on now part of this Otherworlder Enforcement series?
I researched using a couple of books I have on hand. Spirits, Fairies, Leprechauns, and Goblins: An Encyclopedia by Carol Rose and The Mythical Creatures Bible by Brena Rosen. Also many questionable web sources.
I'm taking a break on the OWEA series (turned in book 3 recently) to work on something new. But I'll be starting on book 4 soon. :)
